The History of Phil Stefani Restaurants Food,
family and tradition are the ingredients of the recipe that
make Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants such a huge success.
Located in Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, Phil Stefani's
business ventures include; ten restaurants, banquet facilities,
five seasonal venues, an off-premise catering department,
food and beverage services at one of Chicago's premiere golf
courses, and pasta shop. Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants
runs the gamut from authentic Italian
to sophisticated fine-dining steak and seafood restaurants
or casual beer gardens and lakeshore cafes along Lake Michigan's
boardwalk and shoreline.
The story of Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants began in Chicago
in 1980 when Phil and his Uncle Lino opened their flagship
restaurant, Stefani's in the heart of Lincoln Park, Chicago.
Stefani's was created around family values of hard work, being
fair and honest and serving authentic Italian food. The outstanding
reputation of Stefani's led to the creation of Tuscany. The
Tuscany Restaurant locations include Chicago's Little Italy
on Taylor Street, Wrigleyville, across the street from Wrigley
Field, and in the surrounding suburbs of Oak Brook and Wheeling.
Tuscany features homemade pastas, gourmet pizzas baked in
wood-burning ovens, and all have options for private dining.
They evoke the feelings of the comfortable trattorias for
which Italy is famous.
It was not long before Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants
expanded to one of Chicago's most famous landmark destinations.
In 1995 Navy Pier was completely renovated and became a destination
spot for both Chicagoans and tourists. The Stefani operations
at the Pier include Riva, a seafood and steak restaurant with
spectacular views of the lake and the Chicago skyline; the
Beer Garden, opened May through October for casual dining
or outdoor parties; The Crystal Garden, serving private events
and receptions year round in a glass enclosed atrium and the
Chango Loco Bar and Grill, a casual café atmosphere for summer
dining.
Navy Pier is not the only place to catch one of Phil Stefani's
outdoor dining pleasures. Now you can play golf and enjoy
the wonderful food of Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants at
Harborside International Golf Center located just south of
downtown. If you the love the lakefront, then head over to
North Avenue Beach and enjoy Castaway's. Located on the boardwalk,
it is the perfect beachfront restaurant to enjoy gourmet style
burgers, salads and tropical sweets. And if you are heading
south, stop by Dockside Café which services over 1,000 boats
or the Museum Campus Café. Both locations are located adjacent
to Soldier Field and the Field Museum.
In March of 1998, Tavern on Rush opened in the heart of the
exclusive Gold Coast area, just blocks away from the bars
and nightlife found on Division and Rush Street. Tavern on
Rush is an upscale, contemporary American steakhouse, featuring
a sprawling bar, multi-level seating and an outdoor patio.
The latest Phil Stefani Signature Restaurant is Phil Stefani's
437 Rush. Located at the corner of Rush and Hubbard Streets,
Phil Stefani's 437 Rush is designed to echo the feel of an
Italian Steakhouse. With its beautiful outdoor piazza right
from Michigan Avenue, this bi-level establishment attracts
busy shoppers, business people and tourists since it opened
its doors this past June. People are attracted to the busy
bar scene, and the steak and seafood menu with an Italian
accent.
Because Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants treats each and
every customer and employee as a member of the family and
because of the comfortable atmosphere, the restaurants have
continued to maintain a loyal following. All of our restaurants
have attracted locals, celebrities, politicians and conventioneers.
Former President Bill Clinton is a frequent diner at all Phil
Stefani Signature Restaurants, and in the past year Senators
Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have both visited Phil Stefani's
437 Rush. Political movers and shakers though, are not the
only guests who frequent Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants.
Celebrity diners have included Tom Cruise, Cindy Crawford,
Jennifer Aniston, Vince Vaughn, Kerry Wood, Metallica, John
Cusack, Michael Jordan and many more.
Phil Stefani Signature Restaurants dedicates a great deal
of time and money to giving back to the community, especially
children's charities. In 1988, the company formed Stefani
Children's Charities. The Stefani Children's Charities donates
to many children's charities such as Children's Memorial Hospital,
Maryville Academy, Mercy Home for Boys & Girls, Cystic
Fibrosis and United Cerebral Palsy. Phil Stefani Signature
Restaurants also holds their annual golf outing to help raise
money for many of these children's charities.
The recipe that Phil Stefani has created based upon food,
family and tradition is truly a huge success. It will be passed
on to generation after generation and will continue in all
future Phil Stefani Signature Restaurant ventures.
Buon Appetito!
